By Raúl Oscar López for La Estrella – The province of Chiriquí was one of the areas of the country most visited during independence day celebrations last week, proven by the fact that all hotel rooms in the area were booked. According to Panama’s Tourism Institute (IPAT) in Chiriqui, all 26 hotels in the area were at 100% capacity. The regional director of the IPAT, Erick Orribarra, said there was an impressive number of national and international tourists filling the hotels in David as well as in the highlands of Boquete. Nevertheless, although there are projects under construction, there is a need for increased investment to be able to satisfy the growing demand. At the moment in the province of Chiriquí there are a total of 1,575 hotel rooms with 3,260 beds available. The natural variety of climate, beaches and landscapes are the main attractions of the Chiriquí province.

La provincia de Chiriquí se convirtió en uno de los puntos del país más visitados durante las celebraciones de fiestas patrias y prueba de ello es que todos los hoteles estaban a su máxima capacidad.

Con un monitoreo realizado por los funcionarios del Instituto Panameño de Turismo (IPAT) de esa provincia se confirmó que los 26 hoteles y demás sitios de alojamientos mantenían un 100% de capacidad.

El director regional del IPAT, Erick Orribarra, informó que tanto los hoteles en la ciudad de David, como en Tierras Altas y Boquete, el movimiento de turistas locales e internacionales era impresionante.

Sin embargo, aunque hay proyectos en ejecución, se necesita de una mayor inversión para poder satisfacer la creciente demanda. Actualmente la provincia cuenta con 1,575 habitaciones y 3,260 camas. La variedad de clima, las playas y los paisajes naturales son los principales atractivos de la provincia chiricana.
